Echoes Across Cultures: Spain and the Arab World

Music has long connected Spain and the Arab world through shared traditions of poetry, rhythm, and performance. Bringing together musicians and academics, this panel examines the influence of Arab musical and poetic traditions on Spanish music, particularly flamenco, and considers how these connections continue to inspire contemporary collaboration. Through dialogue, musical examples, and reflections on performance and teaching, the discussion explores the possibilities and challenges of working across genres, languages, and histories, while considering music as a shared cultural heritage that continues to evolve.
