The 'Heart and Mind' of Diplomacy: Twenty-First Century Cultural Diplomacy 

In Conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation’s Abu Dhabi Festival A core concept in American history and Islam, “the pen is mightier than the sword,” forms the foundation of cultural diplomacy. During the Cold War, jazz, art and dance were deployed to defeat communism. Cultural diplomacy has become the global calling card for nations, such as the U.A.E. and Qatar. Dr. Schneider will discuss models of cultural diplomacy and examine its critical role in light of transformations rocking the Middle East.
